P-Platers Are Encouraged to Drive Their Drunk Parents Home This Chrissy

It’s part of Queensland’s #LiftLegends campaign.
Get ready to hear your parents drunkenly sing-along to the radio in the backseat of your car this Xmas.
The Queensland government is rolling out a new marketing campaign over the holidays encouraging sober P-platers to give their tipsy folks a ride home from their wine-soaked brunches.
The #LiftLegends campaign hopes to rebrand designated drivers during a particularly dangerous time on the roads.
"Everyone needs a #LiftLegend this festive season and on Sunday 9 December our annual Christmas road safety campaign will put the call out to recruit them," said Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey in a statement.
"A #LiftLegend can be a friend, loved one, colleague, the local bus or cab driver."
In an early glimpse at the ad campaign, one of those #LiftLegends is a teenage girl with a provisional licence, enduring the raucous antics of her mum and dad after a particularly boozy lunch.

"The dangers of drink driving are well known but many still continue to drink and drive," the Minister added.
"On average, 55 people are killed and 550 seriously injured each year on Queensland roads because of drink driving."
Of course, deaths caused by drink-driving are a national issue, so remember to drive safe and sober this season (and always).
