Oh No! It’s The Back-To-School Blues

School's back. Here's some tips to help you avoid or beat the Back-To-School Blues.
School can be a tiring thing for many. There are pressures from friends to look and act a certain way, pressures from parents to perform academically, pressures from teachers to pay attention and show them that you appreciate them, and then there is your own self expectations for all of the above!
It can get pretty tiring being a teenager, but here are a few tips to get you through the transition back into the school year.
Develop good study habits
Having good study habits will help to ensure that you are learning all that you need to for your level, and submitting assignments and homework on time so that you don’t end up in the detention room! This could include drawing up a timetable for yourself, allocating different subjects and time slots to different nights of your week, keeping a diary, or creating a study/homework club within your year level.
Radiating a sense of community
Being friendly to people, helps you to have a good reputation and takes the pressure off being known as ‘the naughty kid’, or ‘the one that never listens’. It is a new year and you are free to make the decision of a new you before you go back to school! Be a part of your school community and offer to help out every now and then when you can see teachers or other students struggling. Send good messages of encouragement to fellow classmates, and try to help people whenever you can.
Sleep
Believe it or not, sleeping is so important! It is your body’s time to refuel and it needs to be treated as a priority. Yes, staying up watching movies and playing video games is fun, but be sensible about it, because you want to be refreshed for the next day, ready to focus and have the maximum learning experience at school… otherwise, what’s the point of going to school?!
Diet
Eating well, and giving your body the nutrients that it needs is so overrated! It is so important for your attention span and ability to produce good work. Packing a healthy lunch each day and drinking lots of water is vital for your success!
Down Time
Everybody has their tough days, and down time is really important too. Giving yourself some time each day to relax and refocus is a good idea. Doing something you love, whether that be drawing, sport, writing, stretching, singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, cooking or going for a jog, you need some leisure time each day to refocus your brain and get ready for the next day ahead of you.
All the best for the coming school year and I hope that these tips have somewhat made a difference to the way that you approach going back to school. Best of luck!
