Who invented the burger?

In reality the history of the burger itself is a slightly mysterious tale.
No one really knows specifically who invented the burger but most food historians agree it was invented in the late 1800s or early 1900s.
Some individuals who could’ve invented the burger include Charlie Nagreen, an American from Wisconsin claimed to have sold the first burger in 1885.
Or Louis Lassen from Connecticut apparently invented the burger in 1900 at his restaurant. According to the story, he placed a beef patty with some cheese and condiments between two slices of bread.
And the last possible burger inventor was Oscar Weber Bilby, a cook who in 1891 ran out of pork for his pork sausage sandwich and substituted a beef patty instead and inadvertently created what he called a ‘hamburg steak sandwich’.
But really, we have no idea who invented the burger.
The burger today.

Thankfully for us, the burger has continued to live on. Now it’s normally enjoyed with a drink and some fries, which is a huge yes from us.
Over time it’s also meant the classic burger has had an upgrade. Now there’s the ability to add cheese, tomatoes, onions, bacon, avocado and an Aussie fave, pineapple.
But to make your Burger Day even better, we suggest heading to Betty’s Burgers for their sweet, one-day only deal!
