NASA Are Sending Naked Pictures of Humans to Space to Attract Aliens

On today’s episode of News That Doesn’t Sound Real, NASA has released a study detailing plans to send nude drawings of humans out into the galaxy far, far away.

It’s part of a project called the ‘Beacon in the Galaxy’ (BITG), which aims to send messages to any alien civilisations that could be out there. And apparently, getting undressed is one way to do it.

It’s more PG than it sounds. The drawings are pixelated and more friendly than creepy, with a man and a woman waving beside a depiction of DNA and objects falling under the force of gravity.

Scientists explain in the study, “the proposed message includes basic mathematical and physical concepts to establish a universal means of communication followed by information on the biochemical composition of life on Earth, the Solar System’s time-stamped position in the Milky Way relative to known globular clusters, as well as digitised depictions of the Solar System, and Earth’s surface.”

So, how will the endearing nudes be sent? Not via text, to be sure.

The study explains the drawings will be sent via an updated binary-coded message, as this is most likely to be understood by aliens.

“Though the concept of mathematics in human terms is potentially unrecognisable to extra-terrestrial intelligence, binary is likely universal across all intelligence,” the study reads.

There are, in fact, already some depictions of naked humans floating around out there on the Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 missions from 1972 and 1973 respectively.

Are we as a species alluring enough to attract extra-terrestrial life or are we just disgusting alien forms to them? Time will tell.
