Microsoft Just Revealed Their Backwards Compatible New Beast, the Xbox One X

Microsoft has unveiled their next X Box One console at E3: the Xbox One X. (Not to be confused with the X Box One S.)

Fun fact: Though the Xbox One X may look like a palindrome, it is not, because backwards, it just spells Xeno X obX. But close!

Last year, Microsoft teased the 4K console with its working codename, Project Scorpio. At the time, they said it would be the “most powerful console ever built”. And with six teraflops of power—compared to the 4.12 teraflops of its closest rival, the PS4 Pro—it seems they were right.

The company is also apparently making good on their promise to have the Xbox One X backwards compatible. All your Xbox One games and accessories will still work on the X.

The Xbox One X will also be the smallest Xbox in history, and the first gaming console to utilise a liquid-cooled vapour chamber to keep from overheating.

However, the VR capabilities also promised last year will not be available from launch.

You can buy it from November 7, from $AUD649. Its first round of games include Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Minecraft, Forza Motorsport 7 and Dragonball Fighter Z.
