It’s that time of year again when celebs gather at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to show off their incredible outfits, displaying garments dripping in style from head to toe.  

This year’s theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, a nod to Black style and the history of dandyism. Dandyism in Black culture is “a defiant declaration against confinement, a celebration of black identity and a movement based around resistance, pride and history.”  

Every year, the Met Gala has a different theme highlighting different periods of fashion, iconic designers, important points in history, etc. This year we saw nothing short of viral moments from a sea of absurd glamour. If you were distracted, overwhelmed by all the fabric or just not on socials, here’s what everyone’s been talking about from this year’s Met Gala.

Central Cee showed up with… a mini Central Cee? 

The popular UK rapper walked the red carpet with his son in arms, matching hair and suit to go with it.  

Colman Domingo looked amazing, as usual. 

This isn’t really news – let’s be real – but we wanna give a big shout out to co-chair Colman Domingo for showing out in a beautiful custom Valentino cape.

Chappell Roan brought out the Pink Pony cavalry. 

It was the first Met Gala for the viral pop sensation Chappell Roan who worked with Paul Tazewell (the costume director from Wicked) to source her deliciously sparkly pink look from eBay.

Coat check, please! 

Given the theme was suit and tie, we got a few two in one looks with celebs revealing an outfit under a coat and tie (or motorcycle jacket). 

Rihanna announces her third pregnancy. 

Congrats to the happy couple! Rihanna debuted her baby bump, looking like a million dollars in her suit dress. A$AP Rocky arrived earlier, also looking fantastic as one of the hosts of this year’s event. 

But also does this mean we’re going to have to wait longer for new music from Rihanna?

André 3000 strikes all the right chords. 

The rapper turned flute musician showed up strapped with a mini baby grand piano to his bag and was carrying a literal garbage bag? Either way, he looks fabulous.

Sabrina Carpenter gave us espresso perfection. 

The elongated tail from the cinched waistcoat all in a deep browny maroon colour made us swoon over our favourite blonde bombshell.
