McDonald’s Is Secretly Trialling Southern Fried Chicken in Select Stores

Step aside Colonel, Ronald is here.
Look out KFC ‘cos it’s been revealed that McDonald’s are secretly trialling their own Southern fried chicken in select stores across Australia and I for one welcome this fried chicken wars.
The discovery was made by a number of influencers on TikTok, with Sydney-based food blogger @adrianwidjy posting a video of him tasting the new menu item.
“Finally, I am trying this exclusive menu [item] only in a few branches of Macca’s,” the blogger said.
“It’s so good. I personally love it!”
Honestly, watching that video makes me wanna eat it so bad.
Speaking about their ‘Southern Style Chicken’, a spokeswoman from McDonald’s revealed this move was all about expanding their chicken menu.
“It’s part of our commitment to growing our chicken menu and giving our customers even more choice,” she told news.com.au.
“We look forward to receiving customer feedback on the trial.”

A three-piece meal will cost you $13.30. You can also get five pieces on their own for $13.95, or if you’re really hungry you can get 10 pieces for $25.95.
The only bad news coming from this story is that the trial is only at select restaurants across NSW and South Australia. RIP.
Below is a list of all the restaurants that are selling Southern-style chicken.
NSW:
- Waterloo
- Dapto
- St Marys North
- Waitara
SA:
- Felixstow
- Camden Park
- Noarlunga

- West Terrace

There’s no news yet on when—or if—the Southern-style chicken will make its way to all the other states around Australia, but good things come to those who wait, right?
