This article is presented in partnership with Curtin University.
Ready to take on your future uni adventure but not sure where to get started? Here’s how: attend a uni open day!
It can be a little daunting leaving the high school world and entering uni. If you’re feeling a little scared of what’s to come (it’s ok everyone feels this way), why not attend an open day so you can feel more prepared?
And DW, if you live in WA, Curtin University's Open Day is coming up this March. There will be campus tours, food and entertainment, info hubs and giveaways for you to get around.
And if you’re unsure what to expect from your first open day, here’s what you should know 👇
Plan out your day.

If you’ve never been to a uni open day before, they can be quite lively. There are loads of different stalls set up to give out course information, food trucks and fun activities. That’s why it’s a good idea to plan out your day ahead of time.
Curtin's Open Day is from 10am to 3pm, Sunday 24 March 2024. And if you're planning to head down, they’ve got a whole online planner mapping out every single event happening on their Perth campus in Bentley.
Get info about your potential course & future.

One of the main things open days are good for is the opportunity to ask questions about your future. We know it’s cliché, but there really are no silly questions. This is your chance to ask about what different courses will be like, how current students like the course and even discuss how you’d like to study.
At Curtin Open Day, you'll be able to ask staff, current and former students, and industry experts all your burning questions about courses, careers, programs, pathways into uni, fees, scholarships and more. They've got you covered. Use the explore campus map feature on Curtin's website to locate specific information points during Open Day (or ask someone to point you in the right direction).
Find your fave spots on campus.

Uni isn’t just about the classes. It’s also about finding cool spots to study and hang out. Whether it’s the campus café or a study nook, there’s nothing better than finding a spot to call your own on campus.
If you’re heading to Curtin Open Day, we got some inside info on a couple of the spots you should check out:
- Hammock Hotel at the Pines: A group of colourful hammocks strung up between the magnificent tall pine trees on Henderson Court where you can relax with friends or catch up on some study.
- The library: Check out the newly renovated TL Robertson Library for group or quiet study areas and surprises like the Makerspace (an amazing place for exploring ideas – it even has a 3D printer and laser cutter).
- School of Design and Built Environment: Nestled among the street food shops, this new building is a modern, spacious area perfect for studying alone or with a group.
Curtin’s Perth campus is pretty big but never fear – their team will be running guided tours across the entire campus. This includes behind-the-scenes looks around some of their facilities and whole campus tours.
Head to the ‘what’s on’ section of Curtin's Open Day page (and click ‘tours’ under ‘I’d like to see’) to get the most out of the day.
Scout out the food options.

Time to get serious because food options are a vital part of choosing your future uni. So, when you’re attending a uni open day it’s crucial you grab a bite to eat on campus so you can scout out where your new faves are going to be.
Curtin’s Open Day will have pop-up food stalls across the campus, so bring along your appetite. Be sure to check out the event's explore campus map to see all the food and drink options across campus.
Sit back & enjoy the vibes.

Have some fun while visiting campus! Alongside the tours and info sessions on campus there are also lots of other impromptu activities happening on campus during Open Day. There's even a silent disco, DJs and Nova 93.7 will be MC'ing the event! So don’t forget to give yourself plenty of time to kick back and enjoy the vibes.
Curtin Open Day will be happening from 10am to 3pm, Sunday 24 March 2024. Register online now.
