Love "1950"? Get Ready to Fall for King Princess' Next Hit, "Talia"

Her debut EP arrives next month.

Brooklyn-based King Princess (real name Mikaela Straus) burst onto the scene earlier this year with "1950", an unrequited love song about having to hide your queerness, on which she plays every instrument.

It’s a sweet, sad, exceptionally catchy tune…

… and a far cry from Rita Ora’s controversial, quickly-savaged "Girls", which was largely criticised within a week of release for "exploiting bisexuality".

Now, not missing a beat, King Princess is back with a video for "Talia", her second single (which, combined with “1950”, has earned more than 55 million streams, globally).

This time around, King Princess sings longingly about an ex and her "lipstick". In the video, she brings the ex to life via a Real Doll. You can watch it here (though there is some mild doll nudity), or listen to the song by itself below.

With just two singles under her belt, it’s becoming more and more apparent that King Princess is going to be a big deal. Get to know her now, before it’s too cool.

Her debut EP, Make My Bed, arrives 15 June, and will include “1950”, “Talia” and three more tracks.
