Watch The Latest Marriage Equality Video From The 15-Year-Old Student Activist

Earlier in the year we caught up with the student activist who made a viral animated video imploring the Australian government to back a same-sex marriage bill.

Now, Josh Lorschy of Barker College in New South Wales returns with a brand new clip, in which he asks Australians to explain why they support marriage equality.

“I guess after doing the last video I wanted to back it up with another piece. I thought it’d be a great idea to ask everyday people what they thought of the issue,” the 15-year-old Lorschy told Student Edge.

Filmed during a same-sex rally in Sydney on March 9, Josh held onto the footage until after he completed his initial marriage equality cartoon, which you can watch here.

That clip, released during Parliament’s recess, encouraged politicians to support a cross-party bill that would make gay marriage legal in Australia.

Josh was disheartened to see a lack of progress on the matter once Parliament resumed on August 11.

“I guess it’s a bit disappointing that not much has really happened,” he said.

“What I think we need to keep doing is working on the issue, keep pushing, and eventually it will happen.”

As for what’s next, Josh has an even more ambitious video in mind.

“I’ve got like a lot of people who messaged me after I put up what I’ve done and they’re keen to be part of something else that I’m doing," he said.

"I’m looking at merging some animation with some film and responses; just seeing what else I can do.”
