Larissa Takchi Wins MasterChef At 22-Years-Old

Not many 22-year-olds can say that they have won the top spot in a national cooking competition.
In a win that will give Larissa Takchi bragging rights for life, she has become the youngest contestant in the history of the show to win the title of MasterChef Australia, taking home a nice $250,000 in grand finale prize money.
In the nail-biting finale, the restaurant manager from Dural scored a whopping 85/90 points in a three-course challenge, proving age is really just a number.
Larissa beat out contestants Tessa Boersma and Simon Toohey with her experimental dishes, choosing to whip up a roast bone marrow with onion soubise for the entrée and a main of marron with a fennel puree, along with a Sichuan pavlova with a beetroot and blackberry sorbet for dessert. Just casually. (Seriously, this writer struggles to successfully fry an egg…)

Despite receiving near-perfect scores for her dishes from the judges, the final cook was certainly no breeze. In fact, Larissa told 10 Daily she considered throwing in the towel.
"I was literally about to walk out, it was in my head, my face said it all. I was literally stepping towards the front to walk out," she said.
Luckily, Larissa was surrounded by her loved ones who encouraged her to keep going.
"They just saw my face and mum said to me, 'You can do this' and when she said that I was like, 'Okay, you know what? I literally have nothing to lose, I’m just going to give it my all," she added.
Larissa really did give it her all, with judge Matt Preston calling her dessert, 'brain-frazzlingly good food.' Not necessarily an actual word, but it goes to prove how epic her final dish was.
Unfortunately, the young chef's win was somewhat overshadowed by the bombshell news that all three judges will be leaving the show.
However, people have taken to twitter to say their congratulations.
And the good news keeps rolling in, with Larissa announcing her engagement to long-term boyfriend Luke. Life is good for this 22-year-old.
