Justin Timberlake Casually Dropped In For A "Masterclass" With Sydney Music Students

Students at Newtown’s High School of The Performing Arts were in a state of utter disbelief when Justin Timberlake turned up—unannounced—to host a “secret masterclass”.

“This is a treat for me to come here to see and hear you guys,” he says while sitting down, cross-legged, with a small crowd of students in front of a stage.

As totally shocked as the students were, Justin himself was also blown away by their talent. “Had a blast hosting this masterclass at Newtown High School in Sydney,” Timberlake wrote in a Facebook post.

“Ya’ll are crazy talented! Keep up the great work, and don’t forget to stay curious.”

Student Fergus Lupton, who performed an impressive acoustic song in the video, made an appearance on Today this morning.

"It was my own original song," Lupton said. "Justin really got into how much he liked the lyrics, and how vulnerability is such an important thing in music. It was a great opportunity."

Head Music Teacher at the high school, Christopher Miller, said the entire surprise was planned long before Timberlake's promotional tour even began. He's currently touring with 20th Century Fox, the studio behind film Trolls.

"He started young, he knew where they were at, and everything he said was really genuine and positive," Miller said.
