Jonah Hill Made a Movie About Skating Teens and Set It in the "Mid ‘90s"

Jonah Hill is doing it for the culture.
Though we haven’t seen him on screen in a little while, Jonah Hill is going to be all over the place very, very soon.
He has a Netflix series with former Superbad colleague Emma Stone titled Maniac arriving at the end of the year, and he’ll also be releasing his first effort as a filmmaker, Mid ‘90s.
The newly-released trailer for the flick—which resembles a cross between Boyhood and Paranoid Park—proves his love for skate culture comes from a more personal place than we may realise.
Mid ‘90s follows a 13-year-old kid (played by The Killing of a Sacred Deer’s Sunny Suljic) as he tries to fit in with the kids in Los Angeles’ skating scene.
It is, as with all things Jonah Hill, a big mood.
(Coarse language warning.)
Hill, unfortunately, won’t appear in the flick. However, based on this very promising teaser (and the studio, A24, who distributed Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird), he might still wind up at next year’s Academy Awards, with his third career nomination—this time, perhaps, for writing and directing.
Mid ‘90s opens in America this October. An Australian release will hopefully follow soon after. Though, this isn’t promising…
