John Green Is Team Delevingne; Writes Screed To TV Meanies

#TeamDelevingne

Paper Towns author John Green has defended Cara Delevingne after she was taken to task by American morning show Good Day Sacremento for not having enough “oomph” during their interview.

Okay, in fairness, literally no one has sided with Good Day Sacremento since their super condescending interview went live, but it’s nonetheless nice that Green has called BS on their insulting line of questioning. (Not to mention the fact they kept calling her Carla throughout, as if they had no idea who she was. Have they literally not been anywhere near the Internet in the past year?)

Green writes, “Look, these are obviously the first worldiest of first world problems, but the whole process of commodifying personhood to sell movie tickets is inherently dehumanizing.”

“The TV people want some part of you, and in exchange for it, they will put the name of your movie on TV. But in that process, you do lose something of your self.”

Read the whole thing over at Medium. It’s a nice insight into the world of junket interviews. Best of all is how Green wraps up the whole ordeal.

“Cara… refuses to stick to the script. She refuses to indulge lazy questions and refuses to turn herself into an automaton to get through long days of junketry. I don’t find that behavior entitled or haughty. I find it admirable. Cara Delevingne doesn’t exist to feed your narrative or your news feed — and that’s precisely why she’s so f****** interesting.”

How’s that for “oomph”?

Adorably, Delevingne Tweeted a screen shot of the final paragraph, thanking the author, not realising Green was behind it.

Aw, you guys.
