Joel Turner Is Back, And He’s Got a Brand-New Mullet Anthem

Business in the front, party in the back.

You might remember Joel Turner - songwriter, instrumentalist, and expert beatboxer from his Australian Idol appearances all the way back in 2003, or you might be a fan of his classic track, "These Kids".

Well, Joel is back and better than ever with his new anthem for all the mullets out there, and it's called "Mullet feat. Macca The Rapper".

He and Macca teamed up to deliver a fun and tongue-in-cheek way of celebrating Australia’s beloved and often hated hairstyle.

Student Edge got the chance to sit down with Joel and chat about his new track and more.

The mullet has had the comeback of the century in the past few years, and Joel said now is a great time to be celebrating the iconic do's return.

“It’s come back, and we thought it was a good time to bring the track out because we noticed everyone from kids to adults and celebrities and football players, even the guy that ran for Australia in the Olympics, he’s cranking a mullet.”

The track incorporates a lot of humour into the lyrics, and Joel said it’s really important to be able to have a laugh when making music.

“Comedy is another outlet for people to have a moment of escape from work, or from their week or the stresses in life,” he said, “we need to have a good laugh”.

Joel and Macca’s ‘Mullet’ is out on music streaming services.
