Everything You Need to Know About Mark Fischbach AKA Markiplier’s New Movie

The trailer alone has us on the edge of our seats 🫣

YouTuber Markiplier AKA Mark Fischbach has recently released the final trailer for his new film, Iron Lung.

Based off the 2022 video game of the same name, this movie is directed, written and starring Markiplier alongside Caroline Rose Kaplan, Seán McLoughlin (AKA fellow YouTuber Jackseptieye), David Szymanski, Troy Baker and Elsie Lovelock in supporting roles.

In 2023, Jacksepticeye and Markiplier had joked they would be starring in a film adaptation of the 2022 video game with a soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult.

Later in the year, Markiplier confirmed he was directing, writing and acting for a film but didn’t mention the name or any further details. He also confirmed he’s self-financing the film.

What is Iron Lung about?

The premise of the movie is set in a post-apocalyptic future after an event known as “The Quiet Rapture” caused all known stars and habitable planets in the universe to disappear. A convict (played by Markiplier) is sent to explore an ocean of blood discovered on a desolate moon using a poorly constructed small submarine named the “Iron Lung”.

The runtime for the movie is 2 hours and 7 minutes.

The game it’s based off has the same plot with players controlling an unnamed convict who explores an ocean of blood on an isolated moon in a tiny, rusted submarine. The indie game was released in 2022, developed and published by David Syzmanski.

Known for it’s scary atmosphere and incredible sound design, this game has amassed a cult following that has continued to grow with the announcement and upcoming release of the movie adaptation.

If you’re interested in checking it out, it’s available on Steam for pretty cheap!

It’s going to be a “bloody” good time.

A fun fact about this movie, Mark confirmed Iron Lung will contain the most fake blood of any horror film (literally an ocean of it), beating the 2013 film Evil Dead’s record of 190,000L.

In a YouTube livestream, he said the approximate amount was over 300,000L. Now that’s a lot of fake blood.

The movie is set to be released in theatres on 20 January 2026 in the United States with currently no plans to release in Australia. However, fans were quick to hop on Reddit and work to reach out to cinemas to support its release.
