"I'm Bummed": Amy Schumer Abandons That Barbie Movie

Amy Schumer has announced she will no longer play Barbie in an upcoming movie based on the rich inner life of the iconic toy.
(Whether she chooses to play with Barbies in the future is a personal choice, and one she is not expected to report to any media outlets.)
In a statement to Variety, Schumer said she was “no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” adding, “I’m bummed”.
Schumer was set to play a version of Barbie who is evicted from Barbieland for “not being perfect enough”. Just like in the movie Enchanted, the earlier sequences are going to be animated; when Barbie’s booted into the real world, live-action takes over.
Only, not with Amy Schumer any more.
Schumer recently polished the script to match her tone of voice, but it’s not known if Sony and Mattel will keep her version if she's no longer starring. In addition to a new Barbie, a director is still being sought for the picture, due out in 2018.
Will Sony now turn to their original choice (as revealed in leaked documents), Margot Robbie?
If you’re wondering where you can next get your Amy Schumer fix (besides her new Netflix special), you’ll be able to see her in the mother-daughter comedy Snatched opposite Goldie Hawn later this year.
