“Leave Me Out”: Iggy Azalea Nixes Rita Ora’s “Lady Marmalade” Remake

Set your feud alert to orange: “Black Widow” co-singers Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora have butted heads over – of all things – a proposed redo of “Lady Marmalade.”

Speaking to The Sun (a chat spotted by NME), Ora mentioned she’s a big fan of the 2001 cover of “Lady Marmalade” performed by Christina Aguilera, Pink, Lil' Kim, Mya and Missy Elliott.

The tune was first performed by girl group Labelle back in 1975.

"It's always been my goal to create another 'Lady Marmalade'," Ora said.

"I'm trying to round up the troops - I think it would be me, Miley [Cyrus], Charli XCX - she'd be fun - and Iggy [Azalea]."

Well, Iggy was having absolutely none of that.

To steal another pop star's feud-phrase of choice, does Iggy have some bad blood with Ora? Sure, “Black Widow” wasn’t able to replicate the success of “Fancy”, but is something else going on behind the scenes that’s inspired Iggy to publicly distance herself from her one-time colleague?

Or, maybe Iggy’s just wisened up to bad PR moves and doesn’t want to be seen trying to one-up rap legends like Kim and Missy.

Charli XCX, on the other hand, is well into the idea.

At least, she was, before deciding to delete a tweet expressing enthusiasm for the Voltron-like collaboration.

Miley, smartly, is keeping schtum

Anyway: this is a very strange story!
