Hugh Jackman Touring Australia This August With Keala Settle from "The Greatest Showman"

This will have to do until the sequel.

A couple weeks back, a breathless email hit our inboxes, telling us Hugh Jackman would be "making a special announcement" on Tuesday 26 February.

Of course, our imaginations ran wild. What could the announcement be? A passing-of-the-torch to the next Wolverine? A year-in-advance tilt to be the 2020 Oscar host? A sequel to Real Steel??!

Well, it’s the next best thing. Jackman told assembled media in Sydney today that he would be bringing his live production The Man. The Music. The Show. to Australia following a 49-date world tour.

Obviously, you can expect Hugh to perform hits from The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables. But he won’t be performing them alone.

He’s bringing his Greatest Showman co-star Keala Settle to Australia for all his shows. Settle is best known as the Bearded Lady from that smash hit film, and for singing its chart-topping, Oscar-nominated tune, "This Is Me".

Most amazingly, Settle joins Jackman after recovering from a "ministroke" she suffered days before her Oscars performance in 2018. She underwent double-bypass brain surgery in April last year and was in recovery until November, she recently told People.

The Man. The Music. The Show plays Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena 2 – 3 August, Adelaide Entertainment Centre 10 – 11 August, Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena 16 – 17 August, WA’s RAC Arena 21 and 24 August, and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 31 August.

Tickets go on sale via Ticketek this Thursday 28 February for Telstra customers only. Tickets then go on sale to the public 7 March.

Oh, and The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey has told The Sun he’s "working on [a sequel] right now" with Jackman, though nothing is official just yet. 

You are being spoiled by Mr. Jackman so please say thank you when you see him in August.
