How to Watch, Ahem, "Watchmen" in Australia

Who’s watching the Watchmen? You, soon!

HBO has announced the US premiere date for their highly anticipated adaptation/extension of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic graphic novel, Watchmen: 20 October 2019.

Well, that’s all well and good if you’re in America and have access to HBO. But what about the rest of us in Australia? How long are we gonna have to wait? Should we start getting our riot gear in order?

Fear not. Foxtel has announced that Watchmen will premiere direct from the US on 21 October in Australia (AKA, the equivalent of America’s 20 October, because of the, y'know, time difference).

Here’s how you can watch it.

Watchmen premieres on Fox Showcase and will be available to stream on Foxtel Now from Monday 21 October at 12pm AEST. Episodes will roll out weekly every Monday (there are nine in total in S1). (Update! The season is over and it's also now available to stream in full on Binge.)

What’s the new Watchmen series actually about?

Though the plot to the Damon Lindelof-produced series has been kept under wraps, it appears to take place in the same universe as the original comic, in which an alternate version of our history was drastically altered by masked vigilantes, resulting in a dramatic and drastic terrorist incident. (You may have seen Zack Snyder’s mostly faithful and not-widely liked film adaptation.)

The new show looks like it's set after the events of the comic, and stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons and Adelaide Clemens, with music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross.

See what you can piece together from the trailer:

Set your… watches. Tick tock!
