How to Become a Stand-Up Comedian While Still In High School

Is it even possible?

When Ben Samuelsson and Roydon Elliott were both around the age of 12, they fell in love with stand-up comedy.

The only issue? They were six years away from being old enough to perform at any stand-up clubs.

Thankfully, both W.A. students found their way to Class Clowns, a development program for young people that offers an opportunity to perform at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (even if they can't legally purchase a drink there).

Ben and Roydon dropped by Student Edge HQ to share their story, and explain what it's like to balance stand-up with school work.

Plus, they give us an insight into their style of comedy.

Ben: "It's mostly self-deprecating humour. Funny stories that have happened in the past, like the story of my first kiss, where I missed."

Roydon: "It's very dark humour and not appropriate for kids."
