Here's How the Internet Reacted to Sophie Monk Being Named Bachelorette

The internet is shook with the news that Sophie Monk will be 2017’s Bachelorette.

The former model, pop star, actress, dater of other moderately famous people and current radio personality will be handing out the roses this season.

Monk found fame, or something resembling it, in 2001 on a now very-defunct show called Popstars which was the precursor to Australian Idol and X Factor. She was selected to join the girl group, Bardot, which garnered some success.

After the group disbanded, Monk continued with some other projects until she ended up in Hollywood playing some minor roles in films like Date Movie and Click.

Speaking to Pop Sugar, Monk explained that she actually approached Channel 10 about being a part of The Bachelorette's third season.

"It pretty much happened," she nonchalantly added.

Twitter had a lot of things to say. There were some who lived for this moment.

Some were very confused about the news.

But others were obviously not super stoked on the idea.

And there you have it. If you want to know what truly divides a nation, it isn’t the looming threat of nuclear annihilation or red-headed bigots pointing fingers at specific Australian communities… it is whether the Australian people collectively think Sophie Monk is still a thing or not.
