Here Are Troye Sivan's Most Disturbing 90s Moments From Charli XCX's "1999" Video

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan are serving a serious dose of late '90s nostalgia.

The music video for Charli XCX and Troye Sivan's hot collab "1999" has just dropped and there's a lot of nineties and naughties nostalgia to unpack.

Charli XCX starts the video by jumping in a share-riding service in present time and jumps back nearly two decades descending down the rabbit hole of tacky video effects and cheese-filled TV ad parodies.

But, perhaps, the most notable aspect of the clip is the costume changes.

All the looks are fairly tragic but while Charli XCX's costumes could still scream "cute vintage", Sivan, who would've been four-years-old in 1999, fully embraces the cringe-iest and most downright disturbing moments of the period. We are now about to catalogue these moments for eternity. There's still time to opt out.

Sivan takes on Justin Timberlake's iconic spaghetti hair.

Appearing in precisely one person's print out for the barber to create (that was Justin Timberlake) was the infamous spaghetti/two-minute noodle hair. Troye's wig (we hope it's a wig) is perfectly recreated in this homage to JT's NSYNC-era but we honestly hope it's the last time it ever is.

The real Slim Shady is Troye.

Channelling Eminem in his monster 2000 hit "The Real Slim Shady", Troye tries the slick-back bleached hair look. It's, admittedly, the least disturbing of all the looks and I would go as far as saying Troye actually pulls this off.

Dark-goatee-Troye is an image we'll never get out our minds.

Serving another shoutout to the most popular boy bands of the era was this Backstreet Boys reincarnation. The original video for "I Want It That Way" was, and still is, a beautiful cringefest of synchronised dancing and feigned heartbreak so Troye decided to take on the role of AJ McLean, complete with a fake goatee. Shudders.

Bonus round: Troye and Charli dance in a Sims house fire.

More of a triggering moment than a disturbing Troye moment was this feature of Charli and Troye dancing happily in a Sims house... that's burning down.

Anyone who ever played the first Sims knew that every piece of furniture seemed to be the perfect kindling for a random fire and, most of the time, your Sims would freak out and run directly into the fire and not listen to your commands directing them away to safety, leaving them to perish in said fire (*breathes*).

Just me? Okay, carry on.

Anyway, enjoy the rest of Troye and Charli's looks in "1999" below.
