Heath Ledger's Family Is Not Ready To See A Biopic Made About The "Dark Knight" Star

The father of Heath Ledger is not ready for a biopic to be made about his late son.

Kim Ledger told News Corp Australia that his family is unlikely to ever participate in any movie project chronicling his son’s life (despite knowing such a project would probably be an inevitability).

"Heath was a pretty quiet individual so it is not something we'd really be interested in participating in,” he said.

“I don't think any of us could do it.”

Ledger died aged 28 in 2008 from an accidental drug overdose. His untimely passing came shortly after his Oscar nomination for Brokeback Mountain and mere months before his role as the Joker unspooled on cinema screens in The Dark Knight.

He would later win a posthumous Oscar for the Batman flick, which was accepted by Kim, Heath’s mother Sally and his sister Kate.

Kim Ledger also acknowledged that Heath’s now 10-year-old daughter Matilda was one major reason the Ledger family would keep their distance from a biopic.

"He still has a little daughter (Matilda) out there so we are pretty sensitive to all of that," he said.

“I have no doubt somebody will do something one day but when the timing for that is right, I don’t know when that would be.”
