Halsey’s Gonna Star in an "8 Mile"-Style Movie About Halsey

At just age 23, Halsey has closed a deal with Sony Pictures to make a movie inspired on her life. (We’re assuming it will still be feature length.)
According to Deadline, the "Bad at Love" singer signed over her life rights in the hopes of developing a movie similar in style to Eminem’s 8 Mile, which starred Eminem as a version of himself (with a different name), in a story based on his own rough upbringing and rise in hip-hop.
Like Eminem before 8 Mile, Halsey hasn’t exactly established her acting bona fides, but she has a small part in Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born, opposite Lady Gaga, which is already generating a whole lotta buzz. So, perhaps Sony knows something the rest of us don’t.
Meanwhile, she’s casually touring Australia.
Halsey was born Ashley Nicolette Frangipane in 1994, to an African American father and Italian Hungarian mother. As Rolling Stone previously reported, she was forced out of Rhode Island School of Design when her family "couldn’t afford" to put her through. She later dropped out of community college, and was "technically homeless, having been kicked out by her parents after quitting school."
"I remember one time I had $9 in my bank account and bought a four-pack of Red Bull and used it to stay up overnight over the course of two or three days, because it was less dangerous to not sleep than it was to sleep somewhere random and maybe get raped or kidnapped," she told RS.
She eventually found success on Soundcloud with the song “Ghost”, and landed both radio play and a record deal.
There’s no release date yet for her movie, which gives us plenty of time to cast someone to play her boyfriend G-Eazy. We’re thinking… Timothée Chalamet?
