Gen Z Singles Are Putting Self-Love First on Tinder This Year

You're swapping New Year’s resolutions for positive vibes.

If you've entered 2021 single and ready to mingle, it's safe to say you'll probably spend some time swiping right on dating apps like Tinder.

Considering going on dates was, uh, a little difficult in 2020 'cos of the coronavirus pandemic, we're keeping our fingers crossed that dating will be a bit easier for everyone this year. (Although, you guys still managed to meet up virtually via Animal Crossing.)

Except, rather than making it your New Year's resolution to simply meet someone special in 2021, Tinder has found that over 40 per cent of Gen Z users are focusing on intention setting instead.

Basically, you're way more interested in self-love, self-worth and creating positive energy when it comes to dating (good for you).

What intentions does Tinder expect Aussie singles to set? Well, it looks like you'll be challenging yourself to use better opening lines (that's not an excuse to use your cheesiest chat-up line though).

On top of that, apparently one in four of Gen Z Aussies are intending to gracefully decline a date, rather than simply ghosting their match.

Tinder also reckons that 43 per cent of you are just looking to have some fun this year, which makes perfect sense after 2020 completely killed your vibe.

Additionally, some of you are intending to normalise the act of sharing your thoughts on how someone else is treating you, no matter whether it's good or bad. It's time to tactfully share some tips on how things are going with your date!

As it turns out, only one in five single Aussies actually trust their mates' feedback on their potential romances, so that's why it's nice to get it straight from the source.

Finally, 35 per cent of Aussie singles will be intentionally opening themselves up to all the possibilities of love and judging less. This is about sending positive vibes and making sure you're open to connecting with a range of different people.

Now, go forth and crush the dating game this year.
