The 'Friend Zone' Has An Unofficial Logo Now

We like it, just not like that.

Ever wanted a visual representation of the 'friend zone' to convey your feelings of romantic disappointment?

Well, Reddit user Dro2614 has offered his recommendation for an official logo.

The image was hosted on imgur, and in less than 15 hours, it had attracted two million hits.

If you live anywhere near the vicinity of Earth, you would have heard the word "friend zone" before.

It's become a term used frequently in popular culture, but in case you haven't, it refers to this imagined place where people pine for the object of their unrequited love to relinquish them from platonic friendship hell.

As one Urban Dictionary contribution puts it: "It consists of a multitude of possible emotions that you will succumb to. Mostly jealousy, defeat, hopelessness and a strange sense of knowing that your aspirations are an impossibility."

A touch dramatic, no?

There are even products marketed specifically at people who readily identify as being "trapped" in the friend zone. Take for instance this book, or this shirt and hey, maybe the newly created logo will be made into badges?

There's room to argue here that wallowing in self-pity because you've been expelled to the friend zone is problematic. Certainly, there are scores of women who identify as being a friend zone inhabitant, but overwhelmingly it is men who are the most vocal about it.

Many have argued against the use of the phrase altogether, arguing "friendzoning suggests that all women are good for is sex," and "when a man laments the three years he wasted as a friend of a woman, only to be romantically rejected at the end of it all, he invalidates the idea that this woman might have any other worth".

Newsflash: The reward of being someone's friend is friendship.
