Frank Ocean Is Probably Releasing His New Album This Friday

We’ve been thinking ‘bout him.
Our long, international nightmare is over: Frank Ocean will most likely release his long-awaited record Boys Don’t Cry this Friday.
(We say “most likely” because we’ve been burnt before. Remember, he started recording this in 2013. And earlier this year, he enigmatically published a ‘library card’ that seemed to show all of his mooted release dates – one of which was for November 2016.)
According to the New York Times, Boys Don’t Cry will be an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks, before being available for purchase.
Fans will also apparently be able to buy a print publication of the same name from the Apple Store. You may remember him showing this off last year, when he said the album was due July of 2015.
The drought of Ocean news (geddit?) ended yesterday when a mysterious live-stream appeared on his rarely updated Tumblr, showing him making what appeared to be a staircase.
Director Francisco Soriano claimed on Instagram (in a since-deleted post) that the video, titled “Endless”, is his latest “video art project”. Soriano previously directed the clip for Ocean’s “Lost” (which has also been scrubbed from the internet).
It’s understood that Boys Don’t Cry will include a “major video”, so expect that to appear on the live-stream later this week. Unless… it’s already playing. Might “major” mean “120 hours long”?!
Look, it’s been four years since Channel Orange, his last album, was released. We’ve perhaps grown mad in our endless wait…
