Facebook Lite Being Rolled Out To Countries With "Spotty" Connections

Did you know there are parts of the world where Facebook access is not guaranteed? Yes, it might just be too horrifying to imagine.

Clearly Facebook Inc. were horrified by the concept too (or at least, the massive untapped potential of less developed nations).

They hope to bridge the divide by introducing Facebook Lite to nations, as Reuters describes them, with “spotty” connections.

Delivered as an Android app, Facebook Lite uses less data (one-half of a megabyte, in fact) and runs faster in parts of the world where many still rely on 2G networks.

The News Feed, status updates, notifications and photos are all contained within the app, just not videos and location services.

It is now available across Asia and will soon reach Latin America, Africa and Europe.

Remember these lucky souls the next time you 'Like' something. That 'Like' belongs to them.
