There’s no better way to pass the time than a bit of cheeky gaming.
Any excuse to game is a good one, but sometimes you can’t be bothered booting up your PC or console, or you might be stuck in a long commute with nothing to do.
Mobile gaming has evolved far beyond your usual Candy Crush or Fruit Ninja – big titles and franchises like Fortnite, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Genshin Impact (and heaps more) can now be played on-the-go.

However, games like these demand more power so it’s important to make sure you’re playing at your best, on the best device.
That’s where Samsung's new Galaxy S23 Series comes in.
As a gamer, I had high expectations of the Galaxy S23 Ultra (the top of the range in the series) and was keen to try it out for myself. I've seen Aussie gaming icons LoserFruit and Crayator giving it a road-test on their Twitch livestream, so I had to try it myself.
Samsung sent us a device and the first game I tested was one of my guilty pleasures – League of Legends.
It did not disappoint.

When I got into my first match of League of Legends: Wild Rift, the first thing that immediately stood out to me was the display.
The game looked stunning – I cranked the screen up to full brightness, and the colours were incredibly vibrant.
I had a better appreciation for the phone’s screen size when I was playing. The edge-to-edge display allowed me to see every part of the map so I could spot my allies and enemies easily.

Any gamer out there is guilty of those hard-core, long gaming seshes, so it’s a no-brainer that an incredible battery life is a must-have.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a huge 5,000mAh (typical) battery, so be ready to sink into hours of gaming without having to worry about a thing.

For all you techies out there that are mad about performance, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is kitted out with a superfast chip. It’s actually built with the world’s fastest Snapdragon chip (Snapdragon 8 Gen 2)**, which keeps up with those high performing games at a near solid 60fps (frames per second).
Next, I decided to test the phone with something a bit more demanding and jump into the Battle Bus for a game of Fortnite.

I adjusted the settings to see how the phone would perform with the game at ‘Epic’ quality presets, and downloaded the high-resolution textures.
While playing, load times were as minimal as it comes, and the gameplay was still really smooth.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 6.8-inch display, which felt really comfortable to use – the phone is super sleek so it didn’t feel bulky or awkward at all.

I had to force myself to put the phone down but overall, I’m impressed with how well it ran some of my fave games.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra looks great, feels great, and its performance is sure to impress anyone – gamer or not! You'll be sure to fall in love with its epic camera too.
What's even better? You can get a sweet 20% off on the new Galaxy S23 Series as a student at your nearest Samsung store.
