The Internet Wins: Dying "Star Wars" Fan Shown "The Force Awakens" Early

Hashtag activism doesn’t always amount to much, but in the case of #ForceForDaniel, the stars really did align.

The Internet rallied together to help terminally ill Star Wars fan Daniel Fleetwood see an early cut of The Force Awakens after his doctors indicated he would not likely make it to the picture’s official December release date.

Series stars Mark Hamill and John Boyega even voiced their support by retweeting the story to their fans.

Yesterday, Daniel’s wife Ashley revealed on Facebook that Disney and Lucasfilm had come good and shown an unedited version of the highly anticipated flick to the superfan.

It’s hard to call this a happy ending, given Daniel’s state. Bittersweet, this result is.
