Don’t Even Think About Licking Those Fingers: KFC Is Ditching Its Slogan 'Cos Covid

"You should wash your hands, you detty pig."

After 64 years of finger lickin’, KFC have decided to pause all advertising on the slogan they’re so well known for, because well… you probably shouldn’t be licking fingers right now.

KFC made the decision to retire their "finger lickin' good" slogan due to public health concerns over the coronavirus pandemic. They believe that, right now, the use of the slogan just doesn’t feel 100 per cent. 

The company literally branded itself as the winner for the “most inappropriate slogan for 2020.”

Global Chief Marketing Officer at KFC, Catherine Tan-Gillespie said, “We find ourselves in a unique situation—having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment. While we are pausing the use of its Finger Lickin’ Good, rest assured the food craved by so many people around the world isn’t changing one bit.”

While the iconic slogan is being put away for the time being, KFC believes that with or without the slogan, customers know their chicken is finger lickin' good and will continue to provide that classic chicken with the secret eleven herbs and spices to team members and customers all over the world.

With more than 640 restaurants in Australia, 34,000 employees and more than two million customers each week, we doubt the slogan ditch will cause any issues for the fast food giant.

Australia’s Chief Marketing Officer at KFC, Kristi Woolrych also stated that although the company believes it is important to have some fun during tough times like these, they want to make sure that they are providing a responsible experience for customers.

The slogan will soon be removed from all advertisements and packaging globally and should be back when the pandemic ends... if we ever get there.

So for now, when you’re ordering your chicken, wear a mask, wash your hands, don’t lick those damn fingers, and listen to Eric from Sex Education.
