Do Nice Guys Finish Last?

Do Nice Guys Finish Last?

It is often stated that nice guys finish last, but in the end, that isn’t truly the case.

If we are talking about love stories, the nice guy is always “friend-zoned” by the girl he secretly likes because, as she puts it, “You are like a brother to me.” (Trust me! This may seem like a clichéd process, but even I have used that line before.)

The nice guy then steps back while the girl he still secretly loves finds a lad - the type of guy that every girl adores because he has the beautiful long (or short), blond (or brown) hair and the beautiful tanned abs. The lad and the girl have a few cute dates and after two months the girl realises that the lad is actually a jerk.

They break it off after the 200 fights they’ve had (just that week). The girl than falls back toward the nice guy because he was, well, always nice to her. The nice guy and the girl already have a strong relationship because they have developed a bond in which they respect one another and learned to respect themselves.

You’ve seen it play out in a million movies, and yet, art indeed imitates life. The girl eventually finds the nice guy more attractive, whether it’s due to his personality or his features, and falls in love.

I’ve been that girl, and my experiences show that usually (though I’m not saying always), the nice guy actually wins, because he ends up with someone who loves him and now sees people for who they truly are.
