Chance the Rapper Just Became Chance the Doctor and Urged Students to Be Better Than Their Heroes

Chance the Rapper went from colouring books to getting Doctorates.
Chance the Rapper, real name Chancellor Bennett, will from this day forward be known as Chance the Doctor after receiving an honorary doctorate from Dillard University, a historically black liberal arts college in Louisiana.
Chance received the honour for his "philanthropy and continued service to the youth", which he delivers through his Chicago-based charity, SocialWorks Chicago.
At the graduation ceremony, Dr. Chance delivered an inspirational 20-minute speech urging students to be even better than their heroes.
"The highest form of respect that we can pay to the people who came before us, the people who sacrificed for us and gave us everything, is to be better than them," Dr. Chance said.
"To simply copy them would be almost an insult to their sacrifice."
So, hear that? If you want to be like Beyoncé? Aim to be even better. Want to be like Julia Gillard? You've got to aim even higher.
"Beyoncé had Mike [Michael Jackson]. Mike didn't have Mike. Mike had James Brown. James Brown had Cab Calloway, and so on and so on," he continued.
"Right now, the greatest performer who ever lived might very well be in this audience. And that person has something Beyoncé never had. They got Beyoncé."
The speech stirred up the equivalent of a standing ovation on Twitter.
