Catch "Queen and Slim" at "Film School": Student Edge Members Get Discounted Tix

The students become the masters at Film School, a one-of-a-kind screening series.

On the second Monday of each month, a diverse array of young people will present an exciting new release at Luna Cinemas in Leederville, WA and kick off a post-movie discussion with special guests.

Presented by Student Edge, Film School gives up-and-coming critics a voice... and that includes those in the audience as well! High schoolers* and university/VET students are invited to come along, mix with fellow cinema-lovers and share their own hot takes on the movie of the month. Student Edge members even get discounted tickets: $12 at the door or $13.50 online!

The next screening will be Queen and Slim on Monday 9 March, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith.

This event will be hosted by Student Edge members Intan Badrun, Weilin Chi and Shanice Prince. Together they'll discuss this flick, which was written by Lena Waithe and directed by Melina Matsoukas (the woman behind Beyoncé's video to "Formation").

Don't miss out on this advance screening, which takes place days before Queen & Slim opens in Australian cinemas! Get your tickets here!

Members can select the 'Student Edge' option when you follow the link to buy tickets at Luna. You'll just have to show your Student Edge App or card at the box office to book or collect discounted tickets. *Please note Luna Leederville is a fully licensed venue and it is a requirement that under-18s must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.

Intan Badrun

My name is Intan Badrun. I’m currently studying Advertising and Film & Video. I love and enjoy partaking in anything to do with creativity. It allows me to express myself and my thoughts in other ways than just verbally. My favourite quote that is usually lingering at the back of my mind is: "Comfort is the Enemy of Progress". In saying that, I try to be the Jane of all trades by exposing myself in unfamiliar and uncomfortable situations, or else, how else will I grow as person, right?

Weilin Chi

Hey! My name’s Weilin and I’m a masters student at UWA studying Science Communication. When given the chance, I will always tie my degree back to movies. What are the scientist characters like? How accurate is everything? Does it even matter? Aside from pondering these questions, I also like cats, music, and long walks in the shopping centre.

Shanice Prince

Hey, I’m Shanice. I’m a student, studying Environmental Science at Murdoch University. I have always loved film for its ability to tell unique stories and connect people from different backgrounds. My love of film spans across many genres, with sci-fi, fantasy, documentary and thrillers being some of my favourites. My all-time favourite films are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Inception and Spirited Away.
