Cassie Sainsbury Could Now Serve Six Years After Plea Deal

The 22-year-old has reportedly reached a plea deal that will see her play informant to the Colombian authorities.
A plea deal will now see Cassie Sainsbury spend six years behind bars, but will also require her to give up the identities of those in the cartel who supplied her with the drugs; a dangerous move, given cartels aren't known for pardoning snitches.
Because of this danger, she might have to move into a witness protection program if she does give important information.
If she pleaded innocent and was found guilty by the courts, she was looking at up to 20 years in a Colombian jail.

Sainsbury was arrested in April when Colombian authorities found 5.8 kilograms worth of cocaine in her luggage, which she claimed to not know about. Her story was that she had bought 18 headphones from a random male, but did not check the packaging to see if the headphones were present.
The sentence is expected to be officially accepted by the judge soon.
