The new cinematic story trailer for Borderlands 4 has just dropped and it looks like the story is going to be darker with many fan favourites from previous games returning.  

This upcoming action role-playing first-person looter shooter game was developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K. It’s a sequel to Borderlands 3 and the fifth mainline entry in the Borderlands series. You can check out the full story trailer at the bottom of this article! 

This the kind of game with a massive cult following and they didn’t disappoint with the snarky humour we’ve come to know and love.  

Plus, this game looks like it’s bringing a darker tone with a new planet and four new characters to choose from. 

What’s the plot for Borderlands 4? 

From what’s been released so far, you can play as one of four vault hunters who have crash landed on the planet Kairos.  

Their mission? Take out the malevolent overlord named Time Keeper. The only problem is you and each of the other vault hunters have a device called “The Bolt” implanted in them - a control device that limits your character’s free will in an attempt to control you.  

We don’t know too much more about the rest of the story, but it looks like players will be able to meet all sorts of crazy characters and returning fan favourites like Zane, Claptrap and Moxxi. 

Who are the new vault hunters? 

The four new characters are Vex the Siren, Rafa the Exo-Soldier, Harlowe the Gravitar, and Amon the Forgeknight.  

There isn’t heaps of info out yet on exactly what their powers are (besides Vex thanks to previous games always featuring a siren) but Rafa uses an exo-suit, Harlowe’s specialty is tech and gadgetry and Amon utilises shield and close combat. 

Borderlands 4 is releasing on 12 September for Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).
