Australia's Best Ranking Unis Have the Least Satisfied Students

The Department of Education has recently released the results of a survey that reveals low student satisfaction at the country's top universities.
The survey, conducted by Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) in 2015 and 2016, asked around 178,000 students about the overall quality of their educational experience as well as support services.
The results, however, are quite damning for the top-ranking universities in the country, with six of the eight universities in the Go8 scoring below the national average.
In contrast, many of the smaller, and often lower-ranking universities, were found to have satisfaction ratings well above the national average of 80.
Bond University in Queensland and Edith Cowan University in Perth both rated above 85 out of 100.
University of Technology Sydney (UTS) received the lowest ranking of the public universities with a rating of 72.
UTS' senior deputy vice-chancellor, Andrew Parfitt told Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) that they were disappointed in the results.
"The university has invested significantly in facilities and learning and teaching support and, with the ongoing commitment of our staff, we are confident future student satisfaction will reflect the positive outcomes we are aiming to achieve," he said to SMH.
The highest ranking public university in New South Wales was Australian Catholic University at 82, while Victoria saw Deakin University hit 84.
If you’re still tossing up where you’d like to study, head over to the QILT site to see where your preferred university ranked.
