Gorillaz Return With "The Book Of Noodle" (Which Is A Twitter Story, Not A Song)

Gorillaz could return with new music any day now, but until then, you'll have to make do with an update on its fictional member, Noodle.
Over the past few weeks, Gorillaz - the mysterious collective led by Blur's Damon Albarn and represented by four fictional, animated simians - returned to social media, starting an Instagram account and posting more frequently on Twitter.
Today, they've offered their most obvious hint of new music being on the horizon: #TheBookofNoodle, a Tweeted tale that explains what's been going on with missing member Noodle, set between the release of Gorillaz last album, 2010's Plastic Beach, and the next. (Noodle was replaced by a cyborg on that album, you may or may not recall.)
Noodle's narrative involves an eventful visit to a Japanese fishing village. It now joins the labyrinthine Gorillaz backstory, which you really should read up on sometime.
(Key excerpt from their Wiki: "Murdoc said he tried to recover clues to Noodle's whereabouts from the wreckage of the windmill from El Manana, but the most he could obtain was a DNA sample. He later used her DNA to create a violent cyborg version of Noodle, who acts as his bodyguard." Wild stuff.)
