And Now Coronavirus Comes for Peter Rabbit Too (I Mean, "Peter Rabbit 2")

I carrot believe it.

Peter Rabbit, a delightful little CGI bunny that never hurt nobody (well, excluding Domhnall Gleeson), is the latest victim of COVID-19.

Don’t worry though, he’s gonna pull through. Sony Pictures today announced that their live-action/CGI hybrid flick Peter Rabbit 2 won’t be released to theatres in the coming weeks, but will instead be delayed to August in most territories, and 10 September in Australia.

It follows in the footsteps of the latest James Bond flick, No Time to Die, which also saw its release delayed by a number of months, as movie studios get nervous about the effects of coronavirus globally.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, movies that are particularly reliant on big box office numbers from outside of the United States—specifically Asia and Europe—are hoping to wait out the winter months (or at least until the Italians are allowed to leave their homes again) before opening globally. The first Peter Rabbit film, featuring the voice of the UK's James Corden, made more than two thirds of its $US351 million gross outside of the US. You just can’t argue with those numbers.

So, you’ll just have to keep watching the original Peter Rabbit on loop to quench your insatiable thirst for anthropomorphised rabbit content.
