Americans Just Found Out We Call Icy Poles "Zooper Doopers" and They’re in Shock

No other name is acceptable.

It is no secret that the rest of the world is often stunned by Australian slang. If you've ever had an American friend visit, it's likely they stared at you in utter confusion on more than one occasion, as you said phrases like "Yeah, nah", or "Have a crack".

While it can be funny to watch your mate's bewilderment, things can get super confusing when you realise you also have different names for items and types of food.

For example, we know that British people refer to potato chips as crisps, and that Americans call a shopping trolley a shopping cart.

In fact, having different names for things can be quite horrifying, and can lead to intense debate between even the closest of friends.

So, it comes as absolutely no surprise that Americans are currently freaking out at the revelation that Aussies call icy poles "Zooper Doopers".

Earlier this week on Twitter, one user asked what different countries call a shopping trolley, bread rolls, chips and Zooper Doopers.

While the answers to shopping trolley, bread rolls and chips weren't particularly controversial, Americans just couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that Aussies refer to icy poles as Zooper Doopers.

It should be noted that Zooper Dooper is actually a particular brand name, but that doesn't stop Aussies from calling all icy poles Zooper Doopers.

Now, Zooper Doopers is trending on Twitter, with Americans going wild over the staple food's name.

Although, other Aussie users are simply taking their time to express how grateful they are for the summer snack.

While zooper doopers are trending, I’d just like to take this moment to say that galactic grape is the superior flavour

Well, one thing is for certain: at least Zooper Doopers are finally getting the worldwide attention they deserve.
