A YouTuber Reckons They’ve Solved the Ultimate “Rick and Morty” Mystery: Did Rick Clone Beth?

(*Disgusting burp noise*) Nice work, genius.
In last week’s episode of Rick and Morty, “The ABCs of Beth”, Rick may or may not have cloned his daughter, to allow the real Beth to roam the planet, leaving a placeholder behind.
Though Australian viewers will have to wait until this weekend for the season finale to land on Netflix, the Season Three closer has already aired in the United States.
And though it ambiguously resolved the “Clone Beth” plotline, the internet has its own theories.
Needless to say, spoilers ahoy.
The Film Theorists on YouTube have dropped an eight-and-a-half-minute clip suggesting they have “SOLVED” this mystery, coming to the conclusion…
No, seriously, SPOILERS AHOY…
… Beth was not cloned (which is basically confirmed in the season finale anyway, though with enough wiggle room to also suggest otherwise).
And though we wouldn’t necessarily suggest some random YouTubers had outsmarted show-creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon with an iron-clad explanation, their argument isn’t unconvincing.
Still, it relies heavily on a random image of a clock and the distance between the Smith family home and Washington State Penitentiary. You’ll just have to watch the clip to see what they mean.
By the way, if you gave up halfway through, perhaps I can interest you in the hit Rick and Morty song, “Terryfold" instead?
