Teenager Who Made Hoax Threat Against Sydney Opera House Arrested And Charged

The teenager responsible for making a hoax threat against the Sydney Opera House has been arrested and charged by Sydney police, ABC News reports.

Last Thursday, NSW police evacuated and cordoned off the Sydney Opera House to conduct an investigation of the iconic performance space following a threat made at 10:50am that morning.

The Manly wharf was also investigated during this time, as police had information that the person making the threat may have been aboard a ferry.

After several fruitless hours, the Opera House and its surrounding area was reopened to the public, and the threat declared a hoax.

That’s not where the story ends for the 17-year-old boy who made the threat on social media, however.

The teen, who cannot be named on account of his age, was arrested on Monday and will face Children’s Court on February 23 after being charged with ‘false representation resulting in a police investigation’.
