Donald Trump Warns Of Riots If He’s Not Named Republican Presidential Nominee

Donald Trump, who has been warned of using violence-inciting language during his speeches, is now warning of “riots” should he not be handed the Republican Party’s Presidential nomination.
Trump made the declaration on CNN, after they suggested his party would hold a “brokered convention” if he doesn’t receive the minimum 1,237 delegates during the primary season. (At this point we should mention that the American political system is bizarre and brain-meltingly-confusing, but basically, Presidential contenders for each political party are picked during “primary” elections in each state. Trump is the leading contender for the Republican Party, while Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are duking it out for the Democratic Party's nomination.) "I'm representing a tremendous many, many millions of people,” Trump said. “I think you'd have riots,” he added, indicating that those many millions of people wouldn’t be too happy if a brokered convention saw the nomination taken from him and handed to one of his nearest competitors, Ted Cruz and John Kasich. (To muddy the waters even more so, a brokered convention could also lead to someone who hasn’t yet even put their hand up in 2016 - like 2012 nominee Mitt Romney - being selected by the Republican establishment as their nominee. It’s all very, very baffling.) These comments are only the latest example of violent rhetoric being deployed by the controversial reality star turned politician. As a result, physical altercations have become the norm at his campaign stops; a number of them seemingly race-related. Last week, a black protester was sucker-punched at a rally by a white Trump supporter; Trump offered to pay for the punch-er’s legal fees, rather than condemn the action. Another rally in Chicago was cancelled thanks to the presence of hundreds of protesters, though the cancellation itself only fuelled further violence among angry Trump supporters. Trump himself has even been targeted, with one protester recently attempting to rush the stage during an appearance in Ohio. With several months of the primary season still to go – and the actual Presidential election not taking place until November – it’s likely this will only get worse before it gets better.
